Hi Steve Would any of our members like to go to this, Regards Harold.
From: stuart.carruthers@rya.org.uk, RYA Cruising Manager
Dear All,
The attached from Joseph Tierney is by and large self explanatory. The last time this event took place was in 1976 as a bicentennial celebration and SCC now want to repeat the cruise. Last time the RYA acted as a point of contact and some 40 odd couples and families went to Chesapeake to join in. I would be grateful if you would circulate such information as I attach to your members who may wish to join in. If you have any further questions then I would be happy to try to answer them.
Regards Stuart Carruthers

Subject: 2012 Chesapeake Bay Cruise
Dear Mr. Carruthers,
I enjoyed the opportunity to speak with you and update our plans for having British sailors as our guests for the "No Hard Feelings II" cruise on the Chesapeake Bay in 2012. Set forth below are the details which have congealed as of this writing:
Dates:
Monday 6/18/23012 - Sunday 6/24/2012 [Note: these dates are in US date format]
Possible Ports of Call: Annapolis, London Town, Oxford/Cambridge, Solomons Island/Patuxent River, St. Michaels, Fort McHenry/Baltimore, Chestertown (see attached chart of the Chesapeake).
Vessels:
1. As guests on vessels of The Sailing Club of the Chesapeake (SCC),
2. On chartered vessels,
3. On vessels already cruising under British Captains on the Chesapeake.
Hospitality Prior to and After the Cruise:
1. British visitors sailing on SCC vessels would be accommodated in homes of their host Captain for a few days before and/or after the cruise, during which land born visits to area sites could be made.
2. British visitors using group charter vessels would be assigned to an SCC Member's home, as in #1, above.
3. British visitors already cruising the Chesapeake would be included in any pre and post cruise social events.
Expenses:
1. SCC would host all British guests at raft parties and shore side events, such as dinners and tours.
2. Provisioning of chartered vessels may be assisted by the charter company through a local grocer, and/or by the host SCC Member.
3. Host and guest may decide individually about any sharing of provisioning expenses aboard a Member's vessel.
4. Air transport is the responsibility of the British guest; local transportation will be assisted by the host.
Member.
Assignments:
1. Based upon a brief personal and sailing resume', we will assign guests to a presumably compatible host based on interests, occupation, sailing experience, etc.
2. After assignment, the guests and hosts will open direct communication to get acquainted and to arrange arrival/departure times, etc.
One of our Members who has friends in the Clyde Cruising Club (CCC) and who has sailed with them has initiated contact with CCC for the purpose of inviting their participation.
A second of our Members is a Member of the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) and is aware of several OCC Members who may be cruising in this area, and so will extend an invitation to them.
I have attached a copy of the charter fleet listing for Annapolis Bay Charters (ABC). Scott Farquharson is the General Manager and Chris Desimone is the Charter Manager. Their web site is www.AnnapolisBayCharters.NET. Chris may be reached at chris@annapolisbaycharters.net ABC will hold their fleet open for reservations by our guests through September 2011, after which they will accept charters from others. They expect there will be some substitutions in the fleet, usually by comparable vessels. They will offer a 15% discount to our guests. In case there is an overflow, there there are other charter fleets in this general area, but ABC is the charter fleet SCC would recommend.
I understand you will distribute our invitation through the Regional Members of the RYA Cruising Committee. We plan to prepare a more formal invitation and outline of our planned cruise, and a resume' form by the end of this month, and will forward it to you when it is complete. We welcome any suggestions you may have to make it more effective and clear.
Copies are being designated for the following:
Clive Scott - CCC Cruising Secretary
Don Bradbury - SCC Commodore (2012)
Dick Breen - SCC Fleet Captain (2012) and Guest Assignments (Dick has lived, worked and sailed in the UK)
Fred Hallett - SCC and OCC Member
Best regards,
Joseph L. Tierney
