Welcome to Dinghies@RYYC!Dinghies@RYYC is a distinct part of the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club. Whilst remaining a part of the parent organisation, it runs its own racing programme, open events and regatta from a separate base (see below). Members of the RYYC enjoy the advantages of both a traditional yacht club with its harbourside clubhouse, and a dynamic dinghy racing club on a magnificent beach.
Our dinghy sailing is based at Blyth Park, 1.5 miles South of Bridlington harbour, site of the RYYC. Blyth Park itself overlooks Bridlington Bay from low cliffs and a wide and gently sloping beach of firm sand - great for watching, for launching and for the family. We have a dinghy berthing compound, basic changing rooms, showers, canteen and social area. Also, we think, possibly the best beach and sailing area in the country! Check out the Facilities Summary.
Club racing is held on Sundays and bank holidays from April to October inclusive. We hold several open events during each season. See our annual Sailing Programme. There is one-design class racing for Dart 18 catamarans and fast and slow handicap fleets for other classes. Club members are free to sail on any day during daylight hours in the sailing season. One of our patrol boats will be in attendance during all Club races.
Membership can be individual, family, sailing or social. Low rates are offered to 'cadets' up to 21. Members of other clubs are welcome to visit us occasionally, to experience sailing on the sea, and can be signed up as temporary members for a nominal daily fee - but have to become full members if they make a habit of it! See How to Join.
You will find us a friendly bunch of down to earth sailors. Our dinghies range from over 40 years old to brand new. We welcome visitors young and old, but if you decide to visit Blyth Park please ask for a Committee member on arrival. This will save you any embarrassment, as we tend to challenge unfamiliar faces for security reasons. We look forward to seeing you...
