Guidelines for Users of the Blyth Park Site

ACCESS

Although we are a private club, our land has two public footpaths running over it. One  path runs down the slipway and the other one crosses it at right angles about half way down.

The footpath that crosses the slipway has steep slopes at each side and may be slippery. Please keep a sharp look out for dogs, children and the elderly at all times when using tractors in this area.

Please Note. Only vehicles owned by the RYYC, are allowed access to the beach.  Members vehicles or those belonging to the public are not allowed access to the beach at any time. This is a Local Bye-Law.

TRACTORS

Tractors can be dangerous. Only authorised club members over 18 with a full driving licence may use them. Drivers should be aware of the dangers of operating tractors on slopes. Read all the warnings on the club notice board before driving one.

It is unsafe and against club rules to carry passengers on a moving tractor, or on boats or trailers being towed by one.

DRIVER ONLY - AT ALL TIMES

Keep tractors clear of the surf when stationary to prevent them sinking into the sand. Return them to the safety of the Dinghy Compound afterwards. Please don’t turn off the engine on the beach. The decision to use any  vehicle owned by the club is your own risk. We cannot give a guarantee on their condition.  Test the brakes when you move off. If unsatisfactory consider other options.

ALCOHOL

Persons under the age of 18 must not consume alcohol on site. No person should supply alcohol to anyone under age. This is the law.

SMOKING

We have a strict NO SMOKING policy in all buildings and on all powered boats. You must not smoke on or near any boats with inflatable tubes.

FIRE

IIn the event of a fire, please follow the instructions on fire notices and go to the fire assembly point sign near the site entrance.

INSURANCE

All boats stored or used at Blyth Park must carry adequate third party insurance, and be securely tied to the ground to prevent them being blown onto other boats during high winds. A copy of the berthing rules will be supplied on request.

CAR PARKING

Please park all vehicles close to the perimeter of the site, or close to the buildings, but leave doorways clear.  When reversing, check that there are no children, dogs, or equipment at the back of your car. Reverse slowly.

SAILING SAFETY

A list of safety equipment that must be carried by each boat is on the club Notice Board. You will not be allowed to launch your boat if it does not have the required items on board.

CHILDREN

The safety and protection of all children at Blyth Park is the sole responsibility of parents or guardians. This iincludes decisions on whether or not their boat and crew are adequate for the conditions they are likely to meet, and use of the toilets, showers and camping field.

DOGS

You are welcome to bring dogs to Blyth Park, but owners have a duty of care to other members or guests on site.

For the benefit and safety of everyone we would ask that dogs be kept  on a short lead controlled by their owner, or tethered by a short line to the south end of the clubhouse.

The use of a short line reduces the  tripping hazard and prevents dogs from running up to children, jumping against cars, or knocking tables that may have hot liquids on them.

Also any fouling is contained in a small area.

Dog BitingPlease note that the responsibility for any damage or injuries must remain with the owner.

In the interests of health and hygiene, please do not use kitchen pots or pans to water your dog.

Clean up any fouling before you leave using the bags available in the clubhouse.

RACISM OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE

Please inform the Dinghy Committee of any bad language, racist comments, or abuse of any sort from any club member.

Disciplinary action will be considered. Offenders risk losing their club membership.

Our policy is to respect everyone equally.
