The Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club’s Annual Regatta week enjoyed a mixture of weather conditions ranging from fog and rain to bright sunshine and force 6-7 winds.
Rumble (R Wharram) dominated the J24 class counting all top 3 results and the securing the Prince of Wales cup. Runner up was Riot (M Wright) after finally hitting some form and climbing the table near the end of the week in the breezier conditions.
In the Squib’s Neil Orum and Tony Saltonstall showed gave the rest a lesson about sailing in Bridlington Bay counting six firsts and leaving G Dyson in second the same result as his recent achievement at the Squib National Championships.
The Yorkshire One Design’s were back in force this year with 10 boats racing and with another 2 being launched next year, the class is in excellent shape. Mona took the overall trophy from Patience in second and Iolanthe in third.
Humdinger visiting from Scarborough YC won the IRC class in a close fought battle holding a 1 point margin over Starchick in second who in turn had a 1 point margin over Merlin in third.
The catamarans were won by Odyssey ( A Round) who also shared the Commodore’s Rose Bowl for the overall winner with Mona.
