Four Tortoises and a Hare Update
We completed the challenge of the Hull Marathon on Sunday 18th September in record temperatures, but not in record times!
Mark was the first tortoise back in a time of 4hrs 22 mins, followed by Sam who clocked in at 4 hrs 35 mins with Richard and myself finally crossing the line in 5 hrs 27 mins. With fantastic support from family, friends and supporters along the route it was certainly a day to remember.
Our current fundraising total stands at nearly £15,000, this includes cash and cheques received, donations including Gift Aid to the Just Giving site www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Four-tortoisesandahare as well as donations made to Lucy’s site, Lucy completed the Great North Run in 2hrs 6 mins. We are continuing with other fundraising events to the end of the year and hope to hit our £25,000 target by Christmas.
Our fundraising is for GAIN and the Matthew Good Foundation, which was set up after Matthew’s death and has spearheaded a project called the International Institute of Race Medicine (www.racemedicine.org). The goal is to improve safety standards in marathons, medical best practice and safety awareness among runners.
Once again many thanks for your support.
