The Club held its first actual Annual General Meeting for a while. The last two having been held virtually by email due to the pandemic restrictions. It was a welcome change to get get back to the traditional gathering in the front lounge of the club. Unfortunately Commodore (Jeff) was not well enough to attend however Vice Commodore (Julie) found no difficulty in standing in for him and conducted the business of the meeting efficiently and effectively.
As usual the meeting started with a moment of silence to remember those members who had sadly passed away since the last occasion, at this time I am sure the thoughts of many of those present touched on the suffering due to the situation in Ukraine.
The principal purpose of the meeting was the Election of the new Flag Officers and confirmation of the trustees and post holders.
As a result of a ballot Nigel Foster (RYA training) and David Podmore were elected to represent the membership on the General Committee.
David Stamford will serve as Commodore, Joe Franks becomes Vice Commodore, the three Rear Commodores are Philp Leach (sail), Steven Bissell (dinghies) and Peter Marshall (power).
The evening event saw the outgoing team completing their term of office by presenting the seasons and regatta trophies to the worthy winners. The smartly dressed sea cadets served canapes and Nigel (Trainer) presented certificates to those who had taken his RYA courses.
An enjoyable evening which hopefully signals the return to a more normal situation.
