Closure of Club (Coronavirus)

Published 7:40pm on 16 Mar 2020

To All Members

The Coronavirus Pandemic is extremely serious and because of this the Flag Officers in conjunction with the Trustees have decided on the following action which they believe is in the best interests of all Members and Staff employed by the RYYC.

As from the 16th March 2020 all RYYC premises at Windsor Crescent and Blyth Park will be closed to all Members and Staff with the exception of the Secretary and the Rear Commodore Dinghies who will periodically ensure the premises are secure. The closure will remain until the 10th April 2020 and the Flag Officers will decide, in light of ongoing and further information on the Coronavirus, whether or not the closure will continue after the 10th April.

The RNLI Sponsored Walk scheduled for the 29th March will now not take place.

The RYYC AGM is scheduled for the 28th March details of which have been previously circulated to Members. After detailed discussions it has been accepted that in order for the RYYC to function the AGM has to take place and in view of the extraordinary circumstance we find ourselves in and the closure of the premises, extraordinary provisions have to take place. Therefore it is intended that 2020 AGM will be conducted by email. Members are advised that all the current Flag Officers, Officers of the RYYC and Committee Members are standing again therefore there are no changes to the Committee Structure. There are no changes to other appointments.

The 2019 Annual Accounts which have been approved by the General Committee would normally be formally signed off by the Membership at the AGM.

The only significant Agenda Item is the proposal to change some of the Club Rules which again the details of which have been previously circulated. These Rule Changes have been approved by the General Committee but require confirmation at the 2020 AGM.

Therefore the Flag Officers and the Trustees consider that in this extraordinary time and circumstances the Membership would allow the 2020 AGM process to be completed by way of email interaction. In other words if any Member wishes to raise any AGM matter this can be addressed to the RYYC Secretary who will be working from home, it can then be attended to individually by the Flag Officers.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has brought about serious disruptions to all aspects to our way of life and we all hope that in due course life will resume but at this stage this is very difficult to put a timescale on this.

The Commodore and Flag Officers will continue to monitor the position in respect of the RYYC and will communicate further with you in due course with updates.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
